چکیده
The capability of winged bean to support food and nutrition security in sub-Saharan Africa is recurrently being affected by several constraints, which include a lack genetic improvement. dearth adequate information on the level available diversity germplasm has been major setback planning appropriate improvement programs. Fifteen accessions were assessed for using 10 quantitative traits simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. laid out RCBD with three replicates two growing seasons. Leaf samples obtained from plants representing each accession SSR marker genotyping. exhibited significant (p < 0.05) differences measured traits. Broad-sense heritability estimates varied 10.31% days first plant maturity 72.67% pod weight. Pod weight had positive correlations length (0.53, p 0.05), width (0.70, 0.01), number seeds per (0.64, 0.01). However, was negatively correlated (−0.71, Number positively predicted weight, seed thickness, maturity. Cluster analysis delineated into distinct groups. Average alleles 4.2, gene 0.25, polymorphic content 0.22 recorded. Analysis molecular variance revealed intra-accession variation 95% as compared inter-accession 5%. Two primary groups identified only accessions, namely TPt-6, TPt-126, TPt-48, showed purity. results this study provide basis exploiting existing

Development of Gene-Based SSR Markers in Winged Bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus (L.) DC.) for Diversity Assessment
Winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) is an herbaceous multipurpose legume grown in hot and humid countries as a pulse, vegetable (leaves and pods), or root tuber crop depending on local consumption preferences. In addition to its different nutrient-rich edible parts which could contribute to food and nutritional security, it is an efficient nitrogen fixer as a component of sustainable agri...
متن کاملLipid composition of winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus).
The lipids were extracted from the winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) seed with water-saturated n-butanol. Lipids were separated into groups by preparative TLC on silica gel G. The amount of each lipid type was determined by analysis of the fatty acid constituents in each lipid type. Glyceride was the major lipid accounting for 89.6% of the total, followed by an unknown lipid 4%, free fa...
متن کاملChemical modification studies on a lectin from winged-bean [Psophocarpus tetragonolobus (L.) DC] tubers.
The effect of chemical modification on a D(+)-galactose-specific lectin isolated from winged-bean tubers was investigated to identify the type of amino acid involved in its haemagglutinating activity. Various anhydrides of dicarboxylic acids, such as acetic anhydride, succinic anhydride, maleic anhydride and citraconic anhydride, modified 57-68% of the amino groups of the winged-bean tuber lect...
متن کاملCharacterization of winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus (L.) DC.) based on molecular, chemical and physiological parameters
Winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus (L.) DC.) is a potential legume crop of the tropics with high protein and oil content in the seeds. Analysis of the mutual genotypic relationships among twenty four genotypes of P. tetragonolobus through Mantel test found a significant correlation (r = 0.839) between similarity matrices of the results obtained from the use of the RAPD and ISSR molecular ...
متن کاملGas chromatography-mass spectrometric determination of fatty acids in seed oil of winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus (L.) DC).
Fatty acids of winged bean seed oil were examined by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry of their pyrrolidide derivatives. Oleic and linoleic acids were determined to be the major unsaturated fatty acids in the oil. Long chain saturated fatty acids, such as behenic and lignoceric acids, were found in relatively high amounts as compared with other edible seed oils. The fatty acids that could no...
